	WATTCOMM.COM Instructions

WATTCOMM is a simple interface program that permits connection of a PC-compatible
computer to the Watt Mate power transducer. It allows the user to quickly verify electrical
quantities by channel and alter watt-hour constants and CT values as required.

To use WATTCOMM, first make sure the "ansi.sys" driver is loaded into your computer.
This is done by editing the CONFIG.SYS file in your root directory and adding the statement
"device=c:\dos\ansi.sys".

Plug a serial cable with the supplied adapter plug into SERIAL port 1 or 2 on your
computer. Plug the telephone-type connector into the mating receptacle on the Watt Mate.

Start the program by typing "WATTCOMM" if you are using serial port 1, or
"WATTCM2" if using serial port 2. The screen will clear and display the message, "Comm Port #1
(or #2) Selected". With the Watt Mate powered on, press the number "6" key to display the main
menu (it is not necessary to use "Enter" key with this program).

The top half of the menu displays functions that may be accessed through Wattcom. The
bottom half of the menu displays the current settings for watt-hour constant and CT values, by
channel. Menu choices "2" through "5" are self-explanatory and display various electrical
parameters to the screen by channel. Simply select the desired parameter to view, and type the
number on your keyboard. To return to the main menu from a parameter display, press the number
"6" key on your computer.

Menu choice "0" permits changing the CT value setting in the Watt Mate. Factory setting
assumes 50 amp CT and 1 watthour per pulse. If CTs other than 50 amp rating are being used,
press "0" to change a CT value. A submenu will ask for the channel to be changed. Select one of
the available choices. Another submenu will ask for the CT value to be used. After you have
selected a value, WATTCOMM will return you to the main menu where you can verify that your
changes have been entered correctly.

Menu choice "1" permits changing the watt-hour constant for each channel from its default 1
wathour/pulse value. Its operation is similar to menu choice "0", described above.

To exit WATTCOMM, press choice "6" to make sure you are in the main menu, then press
the "Escape" key. The computer screen will display the message, "Quitting".
